As the dust settles on the 2025 season and we head in to the holiday break, I’m taking a moment to reflect on what an extraordinary season it’s been working in Formula 1.
My role at RIEDEL Communications working with the FIA – Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile has took me around the globe over four and a half times. The numbers travelled tell only part of the story, but for the statistically orientated I’ll mention them below:
- 51 flights covering 109,988 miles
- 10 days and 8 hours of jetlag
- 19 countries and 29 airports
- Only 7 hours delayed (I’ll take that as the real win)
Behind those stats is the real work: week-in-week-out we took the critical communications infrastructure that made every moment of the F1 season possible round the planet. While the world watches the drama unfold on track, our work happens behind the scenes from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi.
This is often the busiest time of the year for all who make F1 possible. From the designers, engineers and mechanics who will be building up the new cars and power-units – to the support staff who will be servicing the equipment, performing critical upgrades and performing logistical miracles. We’ve already started on our pre-season work this week and with a tight turnaround before the Barcelona test, we’ll be firing on all cylinders.
Now, time for some well-earned rest before we do it all over again in 2026.
See you next season. 🏁
